Pub is the most cozy public sphere on campus.
The pub located in SU is easy to access because people usually look up to see what there is on upstairs and it evokes curiosity for the people to visit the pub. This place has televisions showing sports games which may give some people a topic to talk about. And, drinking some beer makes people be likely to talk to somebody or invite them to their public discourse easily. Also, the rounded table and comfortable chair help people start talk about any interesting things. Everyone feels comfortable to talk to somebody and anyone can join the talking.

I agree that having a few drinks can help people to unwind and have easy conversations with other students. What kind of restrictions do they have on allowing students under the legal drinking age to share this space, though? Are they able to buy a coke and hang out because the pub only cards people buying alcoholic drinks, or do they check your ID at the door? It would be a shame if they didn't let the younger students in, but I can see if they would think it a problem where older students might buy a drink and give it to an underage student.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is welcome inside. They have some good smoothies I think. But they are strict with the IDs at the counter if you buy beer. I think it's a fun place for students of all ages :)
