Actually I was going to change my topic. it is very similar to drey's topic. So, I just decided to keep my topic. My topic is " How can I make my campus life more enjoyable and memorable?" I chose this topic because this is the most important issue for me recently. Before I came here, I planned my life here. But, something is so different from what I thought that I coudn't carry out my plan. For this quarter I have to reorganize my plan and act. I am panning to joining some interesting club, learning culture, making friends from different country, traveling to southern America, cooking for my healthy diet and something like that. Everyone might think about their plan for school life. So, I think this topic can be public issue even though it is not arguing topic. At least I can get some advice from others and share the idea with other people.
Anyone who give me some advice or tell me your school life at CSUSB? It will be really helpful for me to solve this problem.
If this topic is not good to invite people to public discoure, I will consider changing my topic. It might be not totally different topic but just narrow downed topic like culture difference or leaving "campus" out as in " my campus life " to make people more interested in my topic. I will see..
I don't this this topic is debatable. The assignment sheet does say "start by posing a problem that you actually care about."
ReplyDeleteI suggest you narrow down your topic a bit. I think many college students have time management issues because they want to enjoy the college life and freedom that they have acquired. (That's just an idea.)
Other than that, I think that if you are able to absorb yourself into activities that interest you on campus, or are able to find groups of people who share your interests, and actually go and do things, you would have more memories. Of course, documenting your good times are a must with pictures and videos, that way you'll have visuals of the memories. =)
the thing about the "college experience" is that it really does vary from person to person. Schedules are just one of the main reasons for this. For example there was this club that looked interesting to me. But it held meetings at 8 PM. I commute (public transportation) and i would not have been able to participate. Although i would not have anyway because i was not terribly impressed by the club. College life really does vary. Its not a going to college and you'll do this, this, and this. Theres different students of different cultures, of different ages, of different schedules of different majors. That's what makes it difficult to forge connections in college, but not impossible. The reality of college life is basically what you decide it is.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about narrowing down my topic to make it more specific. you guys comments help me to do that. Like tammy said, I just decided to focus on school activities like joining club. And, like gabe said, regardless of their age, cultures or different schedules I think people can join some clubs if they are interested in that. The situation happened to me that I wanted to attend a club meeting but I had night class. At that time I emailed the club president and joined the club now. Also, as you mentioned, the clubs at this university doesn't seem to be active. That might be another point of my issue. Thank you for giving you guys ideas.
